GitHub Copilot code review now keeps a running account of unresolved findings, resolved comments and newly detected issues inside a pull request, giving teams a clearer way to tell what still needs human attention after each review pass.

The [GitHub changelog update](https://github.blog/changelog/2026-09-18-copilot-code-review-an-improved-review-experience/?ref=eazzytechnews.ghost.io) says the refreshed overview comment shows Copilot's current assessment, the review effort level it used and a summary of findings. Those findings are grouped as open, resolved since the last review or previously missed. Each item also carries a severity level and links back to the relevant inline comment.

## What changed in the review flow

The practical shift is that Copilot is no longer only leaving scattered review comments. The overview now acts as a progress record. If a developer pushes another commit and asks for a fresh review, the overview keeps the previous pull request summary and per-file summaries while logging how the findings changed.

GitHub says Copilot code review comments now include short titles. That matters in larger reviews because the title becomes the line item in the overview, so a maintainer can scan for the riskier finding before opening every thread.

## Auto-resolution gets more context

Copilot can also resolve its own comments with more context. GitHub says it now honors a reply that asks to leave an issue open, and it can close a finding with a reason such as "Won't Fix" or "Incorrect" after later commits address or invalidate the suggestion.

That does not remove the reviewer from the process. It changes the failure mode teams have to watch. An automated reviewer that can close its own comments needs a visible audit trail, otherwise a useful finding can disappear into the noise of follow-up commits. The overview is GitHub's answer to that coordination problem.

## Batch fixes get commit messages

The same release adds generated commit titles and optional descriptions when a developer accepts an eligible batch of Copilot code review suggestions. GitHub says batches can include non-Copilot comments and still receive a suggested message based on the selected changes.

For teams using Copilot on busy repositories, the update turns scattered suggestions into review bookkeeping. The feature gives maintainers a way to separate open risk, fixed issues and findings Copilot only caught on a later pass. The next test is whether those labels stay trustworthy when pull requests move quickly and humans disagree with the model's judgement.
